What’s your happy place?
Mine is getting to combine my love for colour, textiles and
textures to create a snuggle worthy quilt that brings ALL the comfort!
And this Marble Reverberance quilt ticks ALLLLL those boxes 😉
Over the years I’ve worked with lots of fabric lines manufactured by different textile companies. You would think fabric is fabric, right?! But, as I’ve explored the various options, I’ve come to realize that some feel better than others – even if they’re all 100% cotton.
I’ve worked with Michael Miller Fabrics several times now
(Spring is in the Air quilt, Rainbow Plus mini, Reverberance quilt and some I
can’t share quite yet!) and I can’t get enough of the deep colour saturation
and the softness of their fabrics.

HOW THIS PROJECT CAME TO LIFE
So, when Michael Miller Fabrics approached me about collaborating on a quilt featuring their new Marble fabric collection that recently launched at Spring 2018 Quilt Market, I was beyond honoured.
They specifically wanted to showcase their new line using my
Reverberance quilt pattern I had recently designed.
What’s great about the design of that pattern is that it’s
perfect for showing off prints. As much as I love cutting fabric into smaller
blocks, it’s sometimes nice to really feature the prints in all their glory.
The Reverberance pattern does just that.
The original version was made to highlight the whimsical
details of Tamara Kate’s latest Joy fabric collection. This time around, the
pattern still does an amazing job of showcasing the swirling effect of the
Marble collection.
Plus, the smaller solid log cabin borders compliment and
help the swirls really pop.
It makes for a real visual punch of colour.
When it came time to quilting, I wanted to keep the focus on
the fabrics, so I opted for matching Aurifil Threads in the colours 2245, 2520,
2530, 1231, 2435 and 5003. I also wanted a seamless look on the back, so I
stuck with Aurifil Thread in 4020 to match the gorgeous print in the back. Yup,
that meant a different colour bobbin thread, which is always a little scary.
That’s why I love my Juki (you can read more about my review of the JukiTL-2010Q here), I can get the perfect tension settings for this kind of
quilting.
